Colorado Meadows

Colorado Meadows (Photo credit: QualityFrog)

Ok, I love my state. I do. But, if you live in Colorado too, you’re probably aware of the new state brand and the campaign to market Colorado. The new brand includes a video that can be used to promote the state (watch the two minutes below for yourself).

It seems that Coloradans have mixed feelings on the effort – especially considering that it cost around $1.5 million in pro-bono services, with an additional $800,000 in being taxpayer dollars.

Personally, I think the video is beautiful. And while I’m not a huge fan of the logo when it stands alone, I see how marketing Colorado could be a good strategy to bring business and tourism into the state. Of course, I never support wasting taxpayer dollars. You can see how the whole issue of “branding Colorado” could be complicated.

But, I have a much bigger issue with the video and the branding campaign.

Simply put, I think it’s hypocritical to talk about how absolutely wonderful LIFE is in Colorado when Colorado does not protect the most innocent, helpless lives among us. Colorado is currently one of the least restrictive states when it comes to abortion.

LIFE is really not so valued here in Colorado.  Well, unless you’re a life that is either “wanted” (I believe every baby is wanted by someone) or can take care of yourself. How, my friends, is that something to celebrate?

Here are a few statements in the branding video that ought to be applied a little differently:

“We want every day to feel like an opportunity…”

How can it feel like an opportunity for new lives – for unique, new human beings – when they can be freely killed here in Colorado? Opportunity does not include a killing free-for-all, which is pretty much the state of abortion here in Colorado.

“Most of all, we want to feel like we’re doing what we’re meant to be doing, that we are unmistakably excited to be alive.”

Wow. Yes, actually I couldn’t agree more. Even human being – every person – wants to be unmistakably excited to be alive. But how can we provide that here in Colorado when, for no reason, little reason, or any reason, we allow mothers to kill their innocent children? How can these children do what they are meant to do when they are not even allowed to remain alive?

“In Colorado, people live deliberately.”

Yes.  Sadly, they are also allowed to kill deliberately, with little restriction at all.

“In Colorado, you can live the life you want.”

Unless you are a helpless, innocent, unborn human being. Then, you can only live the life (or die the death) your mother chooses for you.

“Our upward momentum as a people and as a place”

I, also, want to see Colorado move upwards. I want to see our state become a better place for ALL people to live and to thrive. But true upward momentum includes equality for all. And right now, with our blatant discrimination against the helpless unborn, we are keeping ourselves in the dark ages.

It’s time to reject the lies of Roe v. Wade. It’s time to reject the wrong philosophy that your life is only worth the value your mother places on it. It’s time to reject the outdated theories and “science” that allow abortion.

It’s time to choose the truth that every human being is a valuable person. It’s time to choose equality and equal rights for all. And it’s time to recognize the modern science that ought to inform us that every, single human being is alive and worthy of LIFE – from the very beginning.

That’s what should be our nature, Colorado.

  • If you agree, consider writing a Letter to the Editor to Colorado newspapers and letting them know how life should be fully and equally celebrated here in Colorado. Feel free to use anything written here if you like it!

Have you ever wondered where pro-lifers get their facts from?  Why do they claim abortion is killing a human beings, based on “modern medical science?”  Why do they say there is  new information that shows abortion is wrong…much more so than there was almost four decades ago when Roe v. Wade was decided?  What are these pro-lifers talking about??

There is a 71 page paper that everyone in America should read.  Go here:  http://www.dakotavoice.com/Docs/South%20Dakota%20Abortion%20Task%20Force%20Report.pdf.   In 71 pages, this report extensively details the modern scientific proof of the humanity and separate, unique life of the unborn child.  No one who claims to truly believe in choice should turn away from at least reading the current evidence for human life in the womb…

Based on testimony from expert geneticists and embryologists, the Task Force agreed, “There can no longer be any doubt that each human being is totally unique from the very beginning of his or her life at fertilization.”[1]

The Task Force quoted extensive testimony from Dr. David Fu-Chi Mark, a nationally celebrated molecular biologist who has patented various polymerase chain reaction techniques, been awarded Inventor of the Year for patenting Human Recombinant Interleukin-2 Muteins, which treats kidney and skin cancer, developed an internationally marketed drug to treat Multiple Sclerosis, and is known for his work in DNA cloning, in vitro modification of DNA, and DNA sequencing.[2]  Dr. Mark testified:

A human being at an embryonic age and that human being at an adult
age are naturally the same, the biological differences are due only to the
differences in maturity. Changes in methylation of cytosine demonstrate that
the human being is fully programmed for human growth and development for his or
her entire life at the one cell age.

New evidence and research continues to come out which shows that abortion is incompatible with a humane, compassionate society.  Phillip G. Ney, M.D., is a physician, child psychiatrist, psychologist, university professor, and an expert in child abuse.  He states,

“After forty years as a consultant psychiatrist,
clinical researcher and university professor, I have no doubt that abortion is
the most destructive and dehumanizing experience known to humanity.  Unfortunately, it remains legal and
commonplace, devastating the lives of children, mothers, fathers—of
everyone….[T]he testimony of those who performed abortion, or were harmed by
it, will soon become well known.

And their anguish will be heard.”[1]

Our children

Image via Wikipedia

Mingi.  In Ethiopia, some members of the Hamer and Karo tribes kill mingi children by leaving them alone in the jungle or drowning them in the river.  Drawn From the Water was an orphanage that worked to save these children until they were shut down by an Ethiopian insider who betrayed them.  How does a child become mingi?  Among other ways, by being born a twin…

Missionary Mary Slessor, affectionately known as the “White Queen of Calabar” went to Nigeria in the late 19th century.  She adopted many Nigerian children who were sentenced to die.  Why were they sentenced to die?  Because they were twins…

Throughout ancient history, and in many cultures, twins have been considered bad luck.  Kings would sometimes kill one son so that the other would be free to reign.  Parents would kill one child or give her to a local orphanage so that the “devil’s child” would not remain in their family.  All because these children were twins…

I would estimate that 99.9% of Americans reading this would be shocked with horror.  Why in the world would we kill an innocent baby simply because he or she is a twin?  Well, apparently, a rising trend in America is to kill twins.  In our “modern society”, many women have a selective abortion if they are pregnant with twins or other multiples.  They simply choose which child they want to keep and kill the rest–kill the rest inside the mother’s womb, while the “chosen” child sits and watches his brother or sister be murdered.  Creepy visual, I know, but that’s exactly what happens.

And do we really think the “chosen” child is going to grow up a secure, emotionally healthy individual?  I highly doubt it.  If my parents had killed my twin, I’d personally wonder what I could do someday that would possibly make them want to kill me.  What if they have a younger child later on that they like better?  What if I somehow become inconvenient to their lifestyle?

Be SURE to read this newsbreaking article yourself.  You can find it in the  August 14, 2011 edition of The New York Times Magazine’s cover story, “The Two-Minus-One Pregnancy.”  Go here http://www.christianpost.com/news/this-isnt-meddling-its-murder-54062/ for selected portions of the article and an explanation.

I also HIGHLY recommend reading this blog post:  http://prolifeintn.blogspot.com/2011/08/has-abortion-industry-finally-jumped.html.

What are we going to do to stop the rising genocide of twins in America?  What are you going to do?  And how is killing a twin any different from killing any other innocent child?

This time, Alliance Defense Fund has the story here:  http://www.adfmedia.org/News/PRDetail/4920.  In basic detail, a federal judge in Indiana upheld the provision of the new Indiana law that requires women to be told  that “human physical life begins when a human ovum is fertilized by a human sperm.”

Now, of course, this statement is not a novel, new scientific fact.  It’s basic science.  But, as you likely know, in Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court claimed to believe that medical professionals didn’t agree on when a human was a human.  Today, federal courts are increasingly ruling that human beings are human beings from the very beginning.  They are also increasingly disagreeing with Planned Parenthood’s claims that basic biological facts are “misleading.”  See ADF’s press release for more info on this…

Of course, this ruling raises the questions we want to hear asked in the public, in the media, and in the courts:  how can a human not be a person?  And how can a human person not be deserving of full protection under the laws…including–and especially–the right to life?  We are so tired of the contradictions concerning life in our society!  Life should be valued and protected at all costs.

I honestly believe that abortion will end in our lifetime.  And I pray to God that it will.  What an incredible injustice…and, in our society…what an incredible contradiction.  Some laws–like the Indiana one–recognize unborn children as full human beings.  There is also a major federal law that recognizes unborn children as persons (more on that coming soon!).  And yet abortion is still somehow, unthinkably, legal.

Of course, I’d say both are important!  The difference is that winning the battle really isn’t in our hands.  We can’t control the results of what we do.  But, no matter what…we CAN (and we must) choose to fight.

What do you think?  Have you ever found personal victory in the midst of loss?  Would you be willing to share your experiences?

So many times in life—and in the pro-life battle—do we focus on winning; do we believe we will win, and center our hopes on that?  Perhaps our hope should be on Jesus alone, the Author and Finisher of our faith.  He is the Author—He writes the story, not us.  And He finishes the race, not us.  And yet, we are certainly called to run the race with endurance.  Another concept to ponder is that we do not live by our faith alone, but by “the faith of the Son of God Who loved me and gave Himself for me.”  (See Hebrews 12:1-2 and Galatians 2:20.)

Many times, we start well, but do we finish well?  Do we carry out our charge until the very end?  We have to give our heart’s passion and our life’s dreams over to the only One Who can finish well…and perhaps it is this realization alone that allows us to truly finish.  Otherwise, there will always be work left undone.  It is by allowing Him to be the Author and Finisher that we hear the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.  Enter now into thy rest.”

Remember, too, that a servant often does the small things—the details—letting his master weave it into the finished project.  I am reminded of a short poem my mother wrote down as a young woman:  “God—He is He, and I, I am only I.”  How profound…

Of course, Christ has already won the victory…we only have yet to see it.  But perhaps our focus should be on the choice to fight the battle, not the hope to win it.  We do not lose that hope, but it is not our focusHow true that we should do what is right, simply because it is right.  Love allows us to fight a battle and lose.  The order of faith, hope, and love—love is truly the end.  (I Corinthians 13)  It puts self away.

It is when we lose ourselves and can say with King Arthur of Camelot, “There is no pride left in me” that we can fight no matter how many times we lose.  This is because we do it for love, not for hope or faith, and not for victory.  Faith allows us to believe that our Lord wins in the end; hope gives us that glimmer of our dream when we become weary (for we always know victory is somewhere around the corner); but faith allows us to keep on keeping on regardless of the visual outcome we see.  Time and time again.  Time and time again.

My life is but a weaving between my God and me,

I do not choose the colors He worketh steadily

Oft’times He weaveth sorrow, and I in foolish pride

Forgets He sees the upper, and I the underside.

Not till the loom is silent and shuttles cease to fly

Will God unroll the canvas and explain the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful in the Skillful Weaver’s Hand

As the threads of gold and silver in the pattern He has planned.

1926 US advertisement. "Birth Control"

Image via Wikipedia. This is a pamphlet that Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, used to pass around. The resources she recommended were full of lies for women–not different at all from the Planned Parenthood of today.

Every single life is incredibly valuable…every single baby deserves a chance to live–especially yours. –Anonymous

*A number of my readers come here looking for info on abortion – perhaps because they’re thinking about having one, wondering how to have one, being pressured into having one, or trying to stop one. If this is you, please feel free to go to the end of my article to the section “If you are thinking about abortion.”

**If you want information on Mirena or IUD’s go here.

If not, keep reading. =)

I’ve been asked many times about my stand on birth control.  My stand is very simple:  Birth control is a personal choice that every couple needs to make for themselves…unless they are using a method that kills their child.  That, of course, would be the same as abortion (with the exception that I don’t think a lot of people know what they’re doing).

While I’d never claim to be an expert on birth control, I have done research on the Birth Control Pill since it’s so commonplace and accepted, even by many pro-lifers.  There are at least five problems I see with it.

1)  What is a Pregnancy, Really?

It’s claimed (even by the Pill itself) that the Pill will not end an existing pregnancy, once a child is conceived.  Any normal person reading that would be free to assume that the Pill, then, does not cause a chemical abortion.  Wait a second, though.  Should we always trust the manufacturer of a “medicine” or any product to give us the full scoop?  In reality, the original definition of pregnancy and conception–and the one we would think still exists–is the beginning of a new human life from the moment of fertilization.  But this is no longer true in the medical community.  In order to provide for the Pill and other such deadly inventions, the medical community changed the definition of pregnancy and conception to the time of implantation, which is 5-10 days AFTER fertilization.  So in other words, your baby is currently not considered alive until 5-10 days after he or she really is alive.  Weird.  And wrong.  And all so the medical community and the Pill manufacturers can claim that the Pill doesn’t end a pregnancy.  Well, here’s the real truth…it actually can and does.  It ends pregnancies before implantation–before you even know the baby exists.

2) It’s the Last Resort…But It Still Happens

There are three purposes behind the Birth Control Pill.  First, the Pill tries to prevent ovulation.  This is it’s first line of “defense”, so to speak, against getting pregnant.  Secondly, the Pill thickens the mucus around the cervix so it’s harder for sperm to reach any eggs that have been released.  Finally…and here’s the Catch 22…the Pill acts to strip the lining of the uterus so no pregnancies (or babies, really!) can attach.  So, if you read anywhere about the purpose of the Birth Control Pill, you’ll see that it’s last resort is to strip a woman’s lining so a baby cannot live in her womb.  I’d certainly call that a chemical abortion because a baby can be created while a woman is on the Birth Control Pill.

3)  What the Doctors Say

I go to a pro-life OB-GYN.  I asked her about the Birth Control Pill and whether or not it ever caused abortions.  Her answer was that, if it did, it was rare so she would prescribe it anyway.     Really?!  Is that really ok?  Is that really a pro-life stance?  This has the chance of killing your child, but it would be rare, so go ahead and do it anyway.  I don’t think so.  In addition, there are several very good pro-life women’s doctors who flatly refuse to prescribe the Birth Control Pill, like Dr. Walt Larimore.  Ask them why they refuse.

4)  What Planned Parenthood Says

First, Planned Parenthood claimed that the Birth Control Pill did not cause chemical abortions.  Now, they claim that if the unborn child is called a person in the law, all birth control–specifically including the Birth Control Pill–will be outlawed.  Hmm…make up your mind please.  When it was convenient for Planned Parenthood to claim that the Pill didn’t cause abortions, they claimed it so that women would believe them and get hooked.  But when Personhood Amendments were brought forward in various states, and the unborn child was about to be called a person in law, the truth came out!  The Birth Control Pill really DOES cause abortions, or it would never need to be outlawed by a law in favor of unborn children’s personhood.

5)  Miscarriages and Women’s Health

Besides the fact that the Birth Control Pill can and does cause abortions, I have yet another personal reason why I don’t use it.  The Pill affects women’s health…quite drastically at times.  The biggest detriment I can see is that the Pill specifically works to strip the lining of a woman’s uterus.  That’s why doctors usually tell women on the Pill to wait a while after getting off the Pill before getting pregnant.  Since your lining is stripped, a baby you want to have may not be able to attach either.  This is why some women have a miscarriage first after getting off the Birth Control Pill.  I think this is such an incredibly sad effect, especially since many women are led to believe that the Birth Control Pill does not cause abortions…

PLEASE READ:

First, I’m not claiming that absolutely everyone who has ever used the Pill has had a chemical abortion.  That could never be proven for a fact.  But I am saying that evidence points to the fact that this could easily occur.  If you are reading this and you are currently on the Birth Control Pill, I’d encourage you to stop now that you know the truth.  The IUD (another common form of birth control) acts in a similar way to the Pill and also causes abortions.  Please study birth control to know which kinds are safe for you and your baby.  I HIGHLY recommend the free book “Does the Birth Control Pill Cause Abortions?” by Randy AlcornAlso, if you never heard this information before, please don’t feel guilty…you didn’t know the truth, and many organizations out there take great care to conceal it.  In addition, not every woman who uses the Pill has a miscarriage before having a baby, so please don’t let that scare you either.  Please just take the truth and apply it!  Save any baby that you can, especially your own!

Seriously, 33% of their income comes from tax-payer dollars?  Even though it’s a billion-dollar-a-year corporation?  And 37% of their total profit comes from abortions?  Although they claim to be a “non-profit” they still make quite an income.  Wow…don’t you think we should continue to spend our hard-earned dollars supporting this abortion giant, who, by the way, does not perform mammagrams, despite everyone’s contention that all this tax-payer money is really for “cancer screenings”…

Read on to find the truth about Planned Parenthood. (The following was written by Family Research Council.)

“For over three decades Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion company, has received billions in taxpayer funds. Despite being a billion-dollar-a-year corporation, Planned Parenthood annually receives $363,200,000 — 33 percent of its income — from “government grants and contracts,” that is, from taxpayer dollars.
With this money, Planned Parenthood claims it performs “benevolent services.” However 97.6 percent of the “services” they provided for pregnant women in 2009 ended in the abortion of the womens’ children, and only 2.4 percent involved prenatal care or adoption referral. Income from abortions constitutes 37 percent of their total profit!
The abortion giant performed fewer than 20,000 other services in its last reporting year — including zero mammograms. All while performing 332,278 abortions. Suddenly, the $363,200,000 a year for “reproductive health care” doesn’t seem like such a bargain for taxpayers, does it?
During these fiscally troubled times, taxpayers should not be subsidizing organizations that perform abortions — especially when they have demonstrated they do not need it. The nonprofit organization had income over expenses of $85,000,000 in 2008, and $63,400,000 in 2009. It reports some offsetting investment losses — but welcome to the club. Its annual budget today exceeds $1 billion. The money would be better served going to Title X recipients who do not have abortion as their central product.
Contact your Senators today, and urge them to stand with you in advancing a responsible culture of life by voting to defund Planned Parenthood.

In mere days the U.S. Senate will vote to defund Planned Parenthood, e-mail them now and urge them to vote YES on defunding this abortion giant! “

**If you are a girl or woman who is being pressured or threatened into having an abortion, please read this article.

Ok, so I’ve been on the lookout for unusual resources that support a choice for life.  (See, life is a choice, too!)  Resources that are clear, easy-to-understand, and compelling.  I’ve come across this free online book called “101 Reasons NOT to Have an Abortion”  A Girl’s Guide to Informed Choice:  http://www.101girlsguide.com/uploads/101_Reasons_Not_To_Have_An_Abortion_EDITION_4__June_Edition_8x10_format.pdf.

You definitely need to check this one out!!  It’s well researched, well argued, and well thought out.  If you’re already committed to life, this will give you more understanding, truth, and explanations to have under your belt.  Maybe you should print it and pass it on to a girl you know.  Maybe you should forward it in an email to people on your list.  If you’re on the fence, this will explain the issue from many different aspects.  You have nothing to lose by doing your research!  In fact, this book will demonstrate to you the inconsistency of the pro-choice position.

Why, if abortion is so right, should it be “safe, legal, and RARE” in their words?  Why, if abortion is so right, do they agree it’s “tragic”?  Why, if abortion is so right, is it such a “difficult decision”?    Why, if abortion is right, do they say it shouldn’t be used for birth control?  Why, if abortion is right, do girls sometimes cover their bedrooms with pictures of babies after having an abortion?  Sadly, I’ve heard from girls who’ve decided that abortion is the way to go.  The most common reason is “I already have my life planned out.  This isn’t right for me.”  I realize that other girls contemplate other reasons for abortion, but do we really live in such a self-centered society that the life of a baby hinges simply on the fact that “I don’t want it right now.”  What if you replaced the word “it” with “her” or “him”?  It’s easy to dismiss a person when they’re just an “it.”  But when you realize that this little baby is a tiny girl or or a tiny boy, their death becomes a lot more real and a lot more personal.

Wondering if you should read “A Girl’s Guide to Informed Choice?”  Wondering if it’s a good resource for you to print and pass on to a girl you know who’s considering abortion?  Here’s an introductory page from the book itself:

If abortion is right…

If abortion is right…

Then it’s a natural healthcare choice for women.

If abortion is wrong…

Then it’s the destruction of the family, the little child and, ultimately, women.

If abortion is carried out on a female’s body…

Then it’s an elective surgical procedure she should have full control over.

If abortion is carried out on a separate person within her body…

Then it’s a perversion of all we stand for as females and women.

If abortion destroys pregnancy tissue, a potential baby or blood…

Then this is all a lot of fuss about nothing.

If abortion destroys a developing baby, a child of God…

Then it’s no wonder our conscience is pleading “Stop!”

If abortion is morally virtuous…

Then repeat abortions for birth control or sex selection are totally acceptable.

If abortion is not ethical or morally right…

Then it can’t be justified for accidents either.

If abortion is an easy, simple choice with no lasting impact…

Then all those women with Post Abortion Syndrome are faking it.

If abortion is a complex choice with long term consequences…

Then it’s time you read 101 Reasons Not to Have an Abortion: A Girls Guide to Informed Choices!

Disclaimer:  Although I believe this is a great resource and well-argued, I do not agree with all of the author’s language…for example, I do not think that abortion is “still your choice.”  Legally, yes, it is I suppose (unless you believe that Roe v. Wade is unconstitutional, as I do).  But morally, I do not believe it is ever “your choice” to kill another human being…

“Save the Storks”

Today, a friend told me about a website with a wonderful, innovative idea:   www.savethestorks.com.  Please visit their site and learn about how this organization is trying to mobilize pregnancy center buses across the nation, starting in Dallas, Texas.  Basically, a Save the Storks bus will be equipped with an ultrasound machine and trained counselors.  The bus will be parked outside of an abortion clinic, and women will be offered a free ultrasound and also allowed to hear the heartbeat of their unborn child.  This is certainly a lot more than the abortion clinic offers them!

Apparently, this idea was first hatched in New York City.  A pregnancy center there has their own bus and has been saving 25-30 babies every week!!  These are numbers we can get excited about!!  They estimate that 3 out of 5 babies are saved from abortion, thanks to the bus.  Here’s a link to a video that explains more:  http://www.savethestorks.com/videos.html.  Watch it and see how you can get involved!  Pass the word on…

In “Save the Stork’s” own words:   The combination of knowledge and compassion is key in most effectively meeting these women’s needs. The Save the Storks team is an ideally balanced combination of head and heart service that does just that. Initially, it is the offer of a free sonogram that draws women to the Stork bus. However, at the end of the day, it is the love and attention of highly trained counselors who are walking with women towards a brighter future that makes a lasting impact. Women walk away from the Stork bus feeling loved, hopeful, and reassured they have the strength and resources to give a new child life.

Why Dr. Pendergraft Says You Need a Late-Term Abortion

First, let’s be clear that Dr. James Pendergraft is under a double-suspension of his medical license in Florida.  Next, let’s realize that he runs a secret “Lethal Injection” clinic in the Washington, D.C. area, specifically designed to start late-term abortions for women whose babies have “fetal anomalies”.  Yes, that’s start late-term abortions.  You have to find someone else to finish them for you.

Now that we have the background we need, let’s look at the reason Dr. Pendergraft says you might need a late-term abortion…fetal anomalies, of course.  You can find his entire list of fetal anomalies at http://latetermabortion.net/birth_defects_and_genetic_fetal_abnormalities.html

I started looking up these different anomalies on Wikipedia, and apparently, according to Dr. Pendergraft, you should kill your child if your child is too short, will need heart surgery later in life, might not be able to walk without a walker, or will need a kidney transplant.  But those aren’t even the best reasons.

The best two reasons you should kill your child are because you drank too much alchohol and your child will be born with fetal alcohol syndrome (definitely NOT life-threatening) and because you have a negative blood type and your child has a postive blood type (something that can easily be cured with two shots).  But no, let’s just kill our child instead of subjecting ourselves to two shots.  Personally, I can hardly believe this is for real, but it definitely is.  These are the kind of abortion horrors that we need to expose.

This afternoon, I read a very disturbing post from a Christian girl who is very active in politics.  She said, “As a Christian, I am anti-abortion, as a citizen the government should stay the hell out of people’s lives and not tell them what they can and can’t do–kill your baby if you want, not my problem, it’s your choice, and so long as you don’t tell me what to do I won’t tell you what to do.  Simple as that.  Let stupid people do stupid things and we’ll be rid of them.”

Excuse me?  “Kill your baby if you want”?  “Let stupid people do stupid things and we’ll be rid of them”?

First, as Christians, why are we putting our personal views as a citizen ahead of our beliefs as a Christian?  That’s like saying, “As a Christian, I believe Jesus is the Savior, but as a citizen of Earth, let people go freely to hell if they want.  Not my problem!  We’ll just be rid of people like that.”  Jesus has called us to reach the world with truth, not just to live in our own personal bubble, enjoying our perfect little lives.  Great if we have the correct beliefs!  Wonderful if we have the answers!  But how absolutely terrible if we are not spreading the truth of life–both spiritually and physically–to those who are about to choose death.

Next, sorry, but no, I’ll never say “Kill your baby if you want.  Not my problem.”  It IS my problem.  God says, “Rescue those being led away to death;  hold back those staggering toward slaughter.  If you say, ‘But we knew nothing about this,’ does not he who weighs the heart perceive it?  Does not he who guards your life know it?  Will he not repay everyone according to what they have done?” (Proverbs 24:11-12)

Finally, what kind of love are we showing if we say, “Let stupid people do stupid things and we’ll be rid of them”?  Did Jesus say that when He came to earth?  Certainly not.  He wept over Jerusalem:  “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing.”  (Matthew 23:37)  It’s one thing if people do not let us help them avoid death and choose life.  But it’s completely another thing if we do not weep over this and wish with all of our hearts that our efforts could have helped them choose another path…

“Show the Way” by David Wilcox

You say you see no hope, you say you see no reason
We should dream that the world would ever change
You’re saying love is foolish to believe
‘Cause there’ll always be some crazy with an Army or a Knife
To wake you from your day dream, put the fear back in your life…

Look, if someone wrote a play just to glorify
What’s stronger than hate, would they not arrange the stage
To look as if the hero came too late he’s almost in defeat
It’s looking like the Evil side will win, so on the Edge
Of every seat, from the moment that the whole thing begins

It is love who makes the mortar
And it’s love who stacked these stones
And it’s love who made the stage here
Although it looks like we’re alone
In this scene set in shadows
Like the night is here to stay
There is evil cast around us
But it’s love that wrote the play…
For in this darkness love can show the way

So now the stage is set. Feel you own heart beating
In your chest. This life’s not over yet.
so we get up on our feet and do our best. We play against the
Fear. We play against the reasons not to try
We’re playing for the tears burning in the happy angel’s eyes

For it’s love who makes the mortar
And it’s love who stacked these stones
And it’s love who made the stage here
Although it looks like we’re alone
In this scene set in shadows
Like the night is here to stay
There is evil cast around us
But it’s love that wrote the play…
For in this darkness love can show the way
